Great Tips
Properly mulched flower beds greatly improve the appearance of your landscape, and provide many other benefits. Mulch prevents weeds, keeps moisture in the soil, adds nutrients, and protects the plants’ root system.
When to Use What
SCREENINGS: Crushed limestone screenings is used to make pathways and driveways, as well as forming a level base for laying paving stones and patio stones. Once compacted, limestone screenings creates a hard surface that sheds water and inhibits the growth of weeds.
MASONRY / PLAY SAND: Clean, fine sand used for anything from sand boxes and volleyball courts, to topdressing grass and for paver joint sand.
7/8″ “A” Gravel: 7/8″ crushed stone and sand mixture used for driveways and as a base material for asphalt, concrete, and interlocking brick/paving stones.
3/4” CLEAR STONE: 3/4″ Washed stones, contains no sand or filler material, allowing for ample drainage. Great for around window wells, in weeping beds, under concrete slabs, and can be used for driveways.
F.A.Q.
Here are a few common questions about our aggregates and sand. If you need help choosing the right material, call us at 519-754-0994.
What material should I use for a driveway or base?
For compacted driveways and base work, we usually recommend 7/8″ Gravel (Crusher Run). For levelling and paving stone bases, Screenings are a common choice. 3/4″ Clear Stone works well where drainage is important, such as around shed and hot tub pads.
